When is the best time of year to clear a garden?   Although early spring is the most popular time for garden clearance, and is the perfect opportunity to reset your outdoor space after the colder months.   Clearing dead growth and winter debris gives your plants and lawn the best chance to thrive as the weather warms.

Can wood chippings be used as mulch?:   Broadleaf species  (oak,  beech,  lime etc. ) and conifers such as pine, yew & larch, all make an excellent mulch because they decompose slowly and don't require frequent re-application.

My garden has been neglected for years, can you still clear it?   Of course, but please bear in mind that such clearances often produce more waste than expected once a clean-up begins – buried rubble, old garden structures, tree stumps and years of accumulated debris.

How long will it take to clear my garden?   This depends on the size of your garden and how overgrown or rubbish filled it is.   A general clean out and tidy up doesn't normally take more than a day or two but, if you're removing many trees or shrubs, or you’ve got a big project planned it could take a week or more.

What can be done with dead fall branches and felled trees?   Mow can cut large branches and felled trees into logs.   If you don't have a wood burner, many of Mow's other customers do, and would 'dispose' of your logs without charge! Ask Mow for advice.

How much does it cost to dispose of green waste?   Green waste that is not being composted, logged or mulched on site, can be removed within the quoted price!

How do I compost waste?   Ask Mow to create an enclosed area for your compost, which is definitely the most cost-effective and environmentally responsible way to dispose of 'green waste'.

What is classed as 'General Waste'?   Larger tree branches, plastic bags, furniture, metal items, bricks and building rubble are all considered general waste.

Can MOW remove and dispose of general waste?   Yes, but please remember that our Waste Carrier Licence only gives Mow access to green waste disposal, and the tip will apply additional fees to take household or general waste.   Just ask Mow for a quote!

Are you able to clear building rubble?   Projects such new patios, decking, garden rooms or driveway work generate heavier waste (concrete, soil, timber ) so you'll likely need a skip or our wait-and-load skip hire for quick turnaround.

Is it best to order a skip?   For very heavily overgrown or rubbish filled gardens, a skip is often the best, and cheapest, option. Mow will advise you during the initial site visit.

Can waste be burned on-site?   Although it is legal to burn green waste in your garden (provided that it doesn't cause any nuisance). . .  there are time restrictions.   In Pembrokeshire, a fire cannot be lit within an hour of sunset, or left burning for more than one hour after sunset. . .  and must not be left unattended at any time.

What CAN and CAN'T be burned?   You can only burn untreated, unpainted wood and dry, natural garden waste which includes small branches, twigs, leaves, and a small amount of paper or plain cardboard used as kindling. You must NEVER burn household rubbish, plastic, foam, packaging. . .  and wet or green garden vegetation that will create heavy smoke.

If you have a wood burner or stove, waste timber, deadfall and trimmings can be repurposed as fuel.   Be aware,  however,  that logs cut from unseasoned or 'green' timber is not immediately suitable for multi-fuel burners and should be allowed to air dry for at least six months before burning.

In order to encourage evaporation and speed this drying process mow.wales can cut logs into lengths of around 12 inches,  and split larger offcuts to expose more sapwood to the atmosphere.   Just ask Mow!
